131 Harvey Elliott and Bobby Clark were amongst those to take to Instagram to laud Jarell Quansah following the youngster’s performance for Liverpool against Manchester City on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp’s men may not have got the result that they wanted, but they certainly made a statement with their display against the champions at Anfield. Liverpool were certainly the side more likely to score the winner in the second-half.
And what seemed particularly remarkable was how quiet Erling Haaland was. Virgil van Dijk was colossal once again. But the man alongside him, Jarell Quansah, was also exceptional.

It was a massive stage for the 21-year-old to feature on. But he took everything in his stride. And he did not look out of place up against one of the best strikers in the world right now.
Quansah took to Instagram following the 1-1 draw to insist that Liverpool need to keep pushing. And the likes of Harvey Elliott, Bobby Clark and Luis Diaz all sent messages of praise for the young centre-back…
Reds youngster steps up again
Steve Nicol suggested that Liverpool would really struggle without Ibrahima Konate amid concerns that the defender would not be fit to feature. In fact, it left the former Reds man changing his prediction to a Manchester City win.
Konate was not involved. But in truth, Liverpool were the side in the ascendency. Luis Diaz missed a host of chances. And Cody Gakpo also seemed to lack composure at the crucial moment late on.
Manchester City did have their chances. But no side is ever likely to prevent Pep Guardiola’s men from having really good opportunities. However, nine players on the pitch yesterday had more attempts on goal than Erling Haaland.
But then, following the Carabao Cup final, should we be at all surprised when Liverpool youngsters step up on the big stage?
Quansah has been exceptional this season. And Sunday proved to be another reminder of his potential.
