Daniel Farke’s Leeds United are interested in signing Fabio Carvalho from Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the January transfer window.

That is according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has named four other clubs who are keen on Carvalho.

So, what has been reported about Leeds United, Liverpool and Fabio Carvalho? Let’s take a look.

Leeds United want to sign Fabio Carvalho from Liverpool

Well, according to Fabrizio Romano, Leeds United are among the clubs who are keen on signing Fabio Carvalho on loan from Liverpool in the January transfer window.

The Italian journalist has reported on X that Leeds, who are aiming to win promotion from the Championship, are pushing to get a loan deal done, just as Southampton and Hull City are.

Romano has noted that Wolverhampton Wanderers are also keen on Carvalho and have made contact with Liverpool.

The 21-year-old, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder, joined RB Leipzig on a season-long loan deal in the summer of 2023, but Liverpool have recalled the £5 million (The Guardian) player due to lack of playing time.

My View: Leeds United may not be appealing for Fabio Carvalho

In my view, Leeds United could struggle to convince Liverpool to send Fabio Carvalho to Elland Road on loan for the second half of the season.

As Fabrizio Romano has noted, Liverpool want to find a club for Carvalho where he would get regular playing time.

I do not see how the former Fulham attacker would get into Daniel Farke’s starting lineup at Leeds.

Crysencio Summerville and Daniel James are regulars for Leeds out wide, and both are doing well this season. Joel Piroe is playing as the number 10.

Carvalho can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder. While I believe that he would make the current Leeds squad stronger, I do not think that he would be guaranteed a place in the starting lineup.

The 21-year-old Portugal Under-21 international would have to prove himself in training and then take his chances in competitive matches. I am not sure that he would get into the team at Leeds anytime soon if he made the move in January.
