Pat Nevin has suggested that Darwin Nunez did the unbelievable as the Uruguayan put Liverpool 2-0 in front on a brilliant night in the Czech Republic for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The Reds have one foot in the next round of the Europa League. Liverpool beat Sparta Prague 4-1, with much of the damage being done during the first-half.
It was Darwin Nunez who scored twice before the break. And it was a reminder of just how exciting the Uruguayan can be, particularly when he has his shooting boots on.
Darwin Nunez lauded after worldie for Liverpool
Certainly, his strike to double Liverpool’s lead in the 25th minute was one of his best for the club. Nunez was around 30 yards out when he cut back onto his right foot and curled a shot towards the goal.

And that somehow left the goalkeeper both incredibly close to the ball, and nowhere near keeping it out – if that makes any sense at all.
Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live, Pat Nevin was clearly blown away by the attempt from the 24-year-old.
“There is nothing on there, The bend he gets is unbelievable. You can watch that all day long. That is what pure quality gets you. That was the very definition of a worldie,” he said.
Striker hitting form at perfect time
Nunez is one of the most unpredictable players in the Premier League. And that will worry Manchester City ahead of this weekend’s mouthwatering clash between the top two.
He can be infuriating to watch. Nunez did not actually score a Premier League goal from the start of November until Boxing Day.
But he has now scored five in his last four. As well as the brilliant strike on Thursday, he also produced the vital winner against Nottingham Forest at the weekend.
Nunez marked his Liverpool debut with a goal against Manchester City. Jurgen Klopp will hope that he can find another for what will be the final time at Anfield Klopp will manage against Pep Guardiola’s men.
