'Problem': Ian Wright suggests 'special' player could reject Liverpool move and sign for Manchester City

Ian Wright thinks that Jude Bellingham could reject a move to Liverpool if they don’t qualify for the Champions League.

Speaking on the Kelly & Wrighty show, Wright was discussing Bellingham’s future.

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder is one of the world’s most exciting youngsters.

He looks likely to play a huge role for England at the World Cup, and has already worn the captain’s armband for his club side.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with Bellingham, and they could smash their transfer record to sign him.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are likely to face plenty of competition to secure his signature.

A Daily Mail report suggests that Real Madrid are hoping to pip Liverpool to the 19-year-old’s signature.

Meanwhile, journalist Ben Jacobs believes Erling Haaland has told Bellingham to sign for Manchester City.

Wright is worried that Liverpool’s current form could mean Bellingham rejects a move to Anfield.

He believes it’s essential that Liverpool qualify for the Champions League again next season to have a chance of signing Bellingham.

Wright thinks Bellingham might reject Liverpool

When asked about Bellingham’s future, Wright said: “The problem is that Bellingham has the pick of the greatest at the moment. How do you sell Liverpool to him?

“You’re going to need other players alongside him so you can say we’re going to get back to this.

“How are you going to be able to entice him against a City who can say ‘look who we have got’ and Real Madrid who can say ‘look who we have got’.

“Liverpool are now in a very precarious position, which is why I want Liverpool to just focus on getting the top four.”

Everton winger Andros Townsend has called Bellingham a ‘special talent’ and it’s hard to disagree.

The central midfielder would be an immediate upgrade in Liverpool’s midfield.

Bellingham’s all-round game is phenomenal, and he’s already scored three Champions League goals this season.

Liverpool will know how much competition they’ll face for Bellingham’s signature, including from current Premier League champions Man City.

Bellingham would be within his rights to reject Liverpool if they don’t finish in the top four.
