The Premier League have now announced who’ll be the referee for Liverpool’s clash with Manchester City this weekend.

Liverpool fell to a 3-2 defeat at the Emirates on Sunday after an underwhelming display in the second-half.

The Reds were undone by a Bukayo Saka brace and a superb display from Gabriel Martinelli

But there were some controversial moments in the game that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wasn’t happy about.

His side were denied a penalty in the first-half as an attempted cross from Diogo Jota appeared to hit Gabriel Magalhaes’ arm, but Michael Oliver did not point to the spot.

The German boss also vented his frustrations about Joe Gomez’s booking in the second-half for apparent time-wasting.

But in the biggest moment of the game, Arsenal were awarded a penalty after a challenge from Thiago on Gabriel Jesus. The spot-kick gave the Gunners the three points in the end and Klopp told Viaplay the decision was ‘soft’

Klopp will be hoping for better luck this weekend after seeing key decisions go against his side at the Emirates.

Liverpool face a huge task in taking on the champions, especially after their underwhelming start to the season.

But this fixture has been a brilliant watch over the past few seasons and if the Reds can recapture their old form, they are more than capable of picking up a result.

Klopp will be disappointed to have lost on Sunday, especially after dominating for most of the first-half. But his side will have the added advantage of playing in front of the Anfield crowd on Sunday.
