Liverpool legend Steve McManaman criticised Kostas Tsimikas for his error in Toulouse’s opening goal in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The Reds full-back lost possession under little pressure in his own half, which led to Aron Donnum driving into the box and firing home.
“It was poor from Tsimikas, just fell asleep and allowed the opposition to get into the game,” McManaman said on TNT Sports, via BBC Sport.
“Caiomhin Kelleher has no chance with the deflection, flies off Jarell Quansah’s leg into the net.
“A very unlikely lead for the home side, and not a good look at all from the Liverpool left-back.”

Jurgen Klopp ended up taking the £12million man off at half-time, which doesn’t bode well ahead of Liverpool’s weekend Premier League match.
Bad day at the office for Liverpool
In all fairness, most of the Reds players weren’t at the races at Toulouse. They went 2-0 down and, even after an own goal halved the deficit, the hosts scored again soon after.
However, Liverpool were cruelly denied the opportunity to leave the Stadium TFC with a point due to a controversial VAR decision late on.
Reds defender Jarell Quansah scored to seemingly make it 3-3 in the seventh minute of added time, and referee Georgi Kabakov appeared to already be pointing to the centre circle.
However, the referee was called to the VAR screen, and the goal was ruled out. This was due to the ball having bounced off Alexis Mac Allister’s chest into his upper arm much earlier in the move.
Not a great day at the office for Liverpool, who’ll now look to quickly regroup ahead of Sunday’s meeting with Brentford at Anfield.
Tsimikas in particular will be gutted with his display, and we’ll see whether he gets the chance to put it right straight away.
