Liverpool look reborn this season.
The Reds, with all due respect, were poor last term. They finished fifth in the Premier League, and put in some pretty embarrassing performances along the way, losing games to the likes of Leeds United and Nottingham Forest.
Liverpool received tons of criticism last season, and now, speaking to TNT Sports, Jurgen Klopp has hit back at a few of the critics, claiming that some people seemed to forget just how good one Liverpool player was last season.

Klopp spoke about Virgil van Dijk’s return to brilliance and his dip in form last season, claiming that people were too quick to jump on his back after a poor spell.
“His performances since he’s been at Liverpool have been like that. He had a bad bad injury and the world is unfortunately like that. It’s all good as long as you function in the moment, if you don’t function people forget quickly how good you have been and how tough the period is you’ve been through.
“For me, Virgil was always outstanding, he’s the best centre-half in the world for this period of time. Yes there was a low for the team and for him as well, but understandably for him especially. The man he became here and the player he became is absolutely outstanding, nobody will forget that in the future, but the business is like that if you have a bad game people take it personally.
“It’s like ‘how can you play like that?’ Think why did you do it then. That’s why I never understand criticism,” Klopp said.
Virgil van Dijk has proven everyone wrong
There was a lot said about Van Dijk last season that has been proven completely wrong.
Many claimed that Van Dijk was washed up or on the decline, but this term, he’s proven that he’s as sharp as ever, and he may well lead the Reds to a Premier League title in his first year as captain.
Van Dijk’s form last season wasn’t great, but his renaissance this term is a lesson to all of us that we should never write a player off on the back of one underwhelming campaign.
