One of the best players on the pitch was United defender Raphael Varane. Raphael Varane is one of the best and most reliable defenders in the world. While we have not seen the best of the Frenchman at Manchester United, we know what he is capable of from his time at Real Madrid.
I do not think that the 30-year-old would get back to that level. There is a reason why Madrid decided to sell Varane when he was at the top of his game.
However, Varane is still a very capable defender who has a lot to offer. I believe that United are a better team with the Frenchman in it.
Against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, Varane won most of the aerial duels and kept the attackers at bay. He put his body on the line and was a leader at the back against Jurgen Klopp’s team.
