Garth Crooks has suggested that what one Liverpool player did during their draw with Arsenal on Saturday was out of this world.
The Reds missed the chance to go to the top of the table, with Trent Alexander-Arnold hitting the bar in the second-half after being played in by Mohamed Salah.
Alexander-Arnold may be kicking himself over that missed chance – that did take a bobble before it fell to the right-back – but there is no question that the Liverpool player was the star of the show.
Garth Crooks lauds Trent Alexander-Arnold after Liverpool draw
It was the 25-year-old who set up the home side’s equaliser, finding Salah with a sumptuous ball over the top of Oleksandr Zinchenko. And Alexander-Arnold was brilliant on the ball all game.

“The ball from Alexander-Arnold that sent Mohamed Salah on his way to breaking Michael Owen’s scoring tally was out of this world,” he said.
“Sat in the middle of the back four on this occasion, Alexander-Arnold hit a ball a quarterback playing for the Miami Dolphins would have struggled to make. The Liverpool defender made contact with the ball from well inside his own half and planted it over the head of a stretching Oleksandr Zinchenko and into the path of Salah, leaving the Arsenal full-back furiously backpedalling and exposed. Salah breezed past him and blasted the ball into the roof of the net. It is the best pass I have seen this season.”
Right-back stepping up with some big performances
It has not always been the easiest time for the England international this season. Alexander-Arnold has come in for criticism at times, particularly for what some see as limitations in his defensive capabilities.
But there is a reason that Jurgen Klopp has never lost faith in the academy graduate. His quality on the ball is almost unrivalled in the Premier League.
He has been directly involved in five goals in 16 Premier League games. That is a very impressive return given the position he plays.
He has now scored against Manchester City and provided an assist against Arsenal. It was also his strike which won the game against Fulham earlier this month.
And if Alexander-Arnold continues to be at his best, Liverpool have an opportunity to achieve something special this season.
