‘One of the difficulties’: James Milner says there’s one thing he still misses about Liverpool

James Milner called time on his Liverpool career this summer after eight years at Anfield.

The midfielder will go down as a Liverpool legend after such a fantastic tenure on Merseyside, but after spending more and more time on the bench, he decided to join Brighton at the end of last season.

After a 20-year career, Milner didn’t find it too difficult to adjust to his new surroundings, but speaking on Brighton’s YouTube channel, he did admit that there is something he still misses about Liverpool.

Indeed, Milner says that he does miss the people at Liverpool after spending so long around the same players and the same staff at the club.

The midfielder spoke about how he’s settled at Brighton.

“Getting a feel for the lads. Pre-season helps when you’re away with the boys for a period of time and together in a hotel. That was a really important time. It’s a great bunch of people down here, and that’s one of the difficulties when you leave a club, the people I was around at Liverpool for so long, that’s something you miss, but to feel as comfortable as I have so quick, the people here have been great and have helped me with that,” Milner said.

Not easy

Footballers are often expected to move clubs with ease, but, at the end of the day, they’re only human.

Indeed, while Milner is picking up a nice pay-packet at Brighton, he’s had to move to the opposite end of the country away from many of the friends he’ll have made at Liverpool over the past 10 years.

It’s only natural for Milner to be missing some of the people he grew to know and love, but, by the sounds of it, he’s settled in just fine at Brighton as well.
