Darwin Nunez’s role in this Liverpool team hasn’t been clear for a long time.
The Uruguayan arrived as a club-record £85m signing, but, last season, he was limited mainly to substitute appearances for the Reds.
However, he’s now getting a real run in the team, and speaking on the Premier League All Access Podcast, Scott Minto has now described Nunez as one of Liverpool’s most important players at this moment in time, claiming that he brings so much to this team with his running in behind and ability to terrorise any defence.

Minto shared his verdict on the striker.
“In terms of being a team player he gives so much with his running in behind, others can then get into the positions they want to. He terrorises defenders whether he’s scoring or not. He and Jurgen Klopp will want to get him on the scoresheet, but you don’t leave your best players out and he is one of Liverpool’s best players,” Minto said.
Getting there
When you sign a player for £85m you expect him to be something of a key member of your squad, and Nunez is finally starting to live up to that billing.
Indeed, after a turbulent first year at Anfield, the striker is now finally finding his feet, and we’re very excited to see what the future holds for the 24-year-old.
Nunez may not be the first name on the teamsheet quite yet in the same way someone like Mo Salah is, but he’s more than staking his claim to be Liverpool’s starting number nine on a weekly basis from here on in.
Nunez’s importance to this Liverpool team is only growing, and that’s because he’s been playing so well lately.
