'On the radar': £10m manager could now replace Pochettino after being linked with replacing Klopp at Liverpool

Liverpool might be the main English club on the lookout for a new manager right now but Chelsea’s name has also been thrown into the mix when it comes to Ruben Amorim.

Amorim is believed to be one of the names on Liverpool’s list of potential replacements for the departing Jurgen Klopp.

The young Portuguese coach has been making waves with Sporting Lisbon and was on Tottenham’s list before they landed Ange Postecoglou in the summer.

However, according to journalist Dean Jones, Amorim is also someone Chelsea could be looking at, while Jones also believes Liverpool will definitely be keeping tabs as well.

Ruben Amorim could join Chelsea or Liverpool

Writing for GiveMeSport, Jones confirmed that Amorim is highly regarded and will definitely be on the radars of both Chelsea and Liverpool.

“Amorim will be on the radar for Chelsea and Liverpool. I don’t think there’s much doubt he would be a good potential replacement if Chelsea sack Pochettino. But then you’ve got to take in the other factors that come with it. You’ve got to pay almost £10m in compensation to Sporting if Amorim is going to leave, which raises more problems around Chelsea’s finances and sustainability. It’s something that’s going to have to be considered,” Jones said.

“Many clubs highly regard Amorim, and I’m sure Liverpool will be one of them. When it comes to Amorim and Chelsea, I’m not sure how comfortable he would feel that that would be a good next destination for him, given the lack of stability.”

Amorim has been described by Pep Guardiola as one of the best managers in the world and would come to England with a big reputation.

Different figures have been mentioned in terms of his release clause. Jones touts £10m in his comments here, however, Fabrizio Romano has claimed a fee closer to £26m will be needed.

At the moment, Mauricio Pochettino is safe in his job as it stands.

But a poor finish to the season could change things and Amorim’s name could well gather traction as we head into the summer.
