The 30-year-old midfielder crossed to the blue side of Merseyside.
We knew Melissa Lawley would be leaving at the end of last season when her contract expired. Now the club has confirmed her new destination. Lawley will have a short move as she transfers down the block to Everton.
The midfielder joined Liverpool Women in the summer of 2019 from Manchester City, which means that she was there when they team was relegated to the Championship at the end of that season, and then helped them work their way back out.
In the two years since regaining promotion to the top flight, Lawley has been an important piece of Matt Beard’s midfield. She made over 100 appearances for the team in her five years with the team.
Beard has the likes of Scouser Missy Bo Kearns, Fuka Nagano, Marie Höbinger, Ceri Holland, and Sofie Lungaard still in his roster. As the Reds look to take on the top three in this coming season to get into the Champions League, it will be interesting to see if Beard brings in any new midfielders to take her place on the wing.
