Edin Terzic may not be a hot name on the radar of Liverpool fans.
Jurgen Klopp is on his way out this summer, deciding to step away from football after more than eight years in the Anfield dugout.
The job of following Klopp is a difficult one to say the least and there will be huge pressure on whoever takes the job.
Former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso is the most popular suggestion right now given that he sits eight points clear at the top fo the Bundesliga table with Bayer Leverkusen.
Liverpool will need to have a host of candidates in mind though and David James has a surprise suggestion for the job.
Edin Terzic to Liverpool?
Former Reds stopper David James has spoken to GG Recon and is backing Edin Terzic to be in the mix.
Terzic – a former West Ham coach under Slaven Bilic – is now in charge of Borussia Dortmund.
The 41-year-old missed out on a Bundesliga title in heartbreaking fashion at the end of last season and has actually come under the pressure this season.
Dortmund are 17 points adrift of top spot and aren’t even a factor in the Bundesliga title race this season, currently sitting in fourth place.
Terzic needs a strong end to the season but James believes that he should be under consideration at Liverpool.
James seemingly values the Dortmund to Liverpool link, noting that Terzic could follow the same path as Klopp.

“I’ve already said that Edin Terzić, who I know personally, should be in the mix because of his Borussia Dortmund links, which is obviously similar to Jürgen Klopp,” said James.
“The thing we have to understand with Liverpool is that Jürgen has shown how to handle the media in a way that doesn’t sensationalise anything. He’s so down to earth, honest and he doesn’t glorify anything, so the qualities he continues to display are qualities that a lot of other managers don’t have. I believe that Jürgen has a special skill. For Liverpool, finding somebody who’s good with a football team is one thing, but finding someone as skilled as Jürgen with the media is another thing,” he added.
Terzic may have been a bigger candidate if he had backed up last season’s title push with another one this season.
Instead, Dortmund have taken a step or two back and he needs to prove that he is the man for Dortmund, never mind attract Liverpool.
We would be surprised to see Terzic in the mix for Liverpool this summer but the search for Klopp’s successor will be a wide-ranging one and the Reds are bound to have some left-field names on the radar.
