'Not really too much to worry about': £36m Liverpool man suggests he expects Klopp's replacement to start him

One Liverpool player sounds very confident about keeping his place in the starting XI after Jurgen Klopp departs Anfield this summer.

The comments were made during an interview with France TV over the international break.

So, which Liverpool player is backing himself to stay in the starting lineup under Jurgen Klopp‘s replacement? Let’s take a look…

Ibrahima Konate suggests he expects to start for Liverpool next season

Well, Ibrahima Konate admitted that anything can happen under a new manager – and whoever replaces Klopp may not actually like him – but added that he expects no issues under the German’s replacement.

Konate said: “Liverpool is Liverpool. It was Klopp who came for me and took me to the level I am at today. It will always remain a legendary, exceptional club. Everyone is apprehensive, every player is aware of that. Who will be the new coach, will things go well, collectively and individually?

“Because tomorrow a new coach arrives but for personal reasons, he may not like us, and you can’t stay at the club because you have your career. Afterwards, there’s not really too much to worry about at that level. Liverpool will get the job done and with what I’m doing on the pitch today, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t work.”

Konate has every right to be confident about his future at Liverpool.

The Frenchman has been a colossal figure at the back alongside Virgil van Dijk – who thinks his fellow defender has “got everything” – since arriving in a £36m deal from RB Leipzig back in May 2021.

Jamie Carragher – one of the greatest defenders in Premier League history – even thinks the Liverpool No.5 makes things look easy in defence.

24-year-old is bound to play

In our view, Konate should be among the first names on the teamsheet for whoever replaces Klopp.

The man from Paris offers a truly unique presence at the back for Liverpool, combining speed and power with a delicate touch and clean passing skills – it simply isn’t normal for a central defender to boast all of these traits.

On the topic of speed, Cody Gakpo even thinks Konate is just as quick as Darwin Nunez, which speaks volumes.

Whether it is Xabi Alonso or Ruben Amorim who replaces Klopp – Julian Nagelsmann has also been linked – they would be foolish not to make the France international a regular starter next season.
