Paul Merson believes that Liverpool star James Milner should not be starting every week for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The pundit, writing on Sportskeeda, believes Liverpool “aren’t going to win the Premier League” with Milner and Nat Phillips starting games.
Liverpool have begun the season slowly, picking up draws against Fulham and Crystal Palace.

At present, eight remain on the sidelines, as per their latest injury update.
Klopp remains without Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara, Ibrahima Konate, Curtis Jones, Diogo Jota, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Calvin Ramsay and Caoimhin Kelleher.
And Darwin Nunez is also unavailable, as he’s serving a three-match ban for his straight red card last time out.
However, Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino are back in contention for the meeting with Manchester United.
Merson reckons Liverpool have a “lot of problems” at present, which could cost them dear in their title pursuit.
He wrote on Sportskeeda: “At the moment, Liverpool have a lot of problems and they don’t seem to be good enough, I’m sorry.
“You aren’t going to win the Premier League with Nat Phillips and James Milner starting games.
“I have loads of respect for Milner, but at this stage of his career, he should only play when Liverpool want to see off games.
“There’s no way he should be starting games week in and week out!”
Milner has made 292 appearances for Liverpool since his 2015 free transfer after leaving Manchester City.
The 36-year-old’s £150,000-a-week contract expires next summer.
