Graeme Souness has continued his mini beef with Jack Grealish by insisting he isn’t a player who’d get into Liverpool’s XI right now.
Grealish scored yesterday as City drew with Tottenham but has had to fight for his place this season after the signing of Jeremy Doku.
The England midfielder cost City £100m when he signed from Aston Villa. During that time he’s helped them to the treble and won a number of plaudits for his performances.
However, former Liverpool midfielder Souness has been a staunch critic and believes there’s no way Grealish gets into the Liverpool team.
Jack Grealish not good enough for Liverpool, says Souness
Speaking about Grealish on TalKSPORT today, Souness went on one about Grealish and when asked if he got in the Liverpool side, insisted he’s not good enough.
“I don’t see him going to the by line enough and going past someone. He threatens to go down the line and comes inside. It’s how the modern game has evolved. Left sided players want to play on the right and vice versa. You don’t want to become predictable, right now he’s predictable,” Souness said.
“Grealish, Jim? No. He’s a rascal. He is a rascal in the sense that I bet he’s great to have a night out with.”

In fairness to Souness here, he might have a good point about Grealish and Liverpool.
Where would he realistically fit in a Jurgen Klopp Liverpool side? Right now, he just doesn’t, especially with the likes of Diaz and Salah in wide areas.
Of course, Grealish is a fine player and would walk into most squads.
But Souness has a point in that the City man might not get in the Liverpool XI. He’d be able to contribute to the team just like he does with City and Pep.
However, he might not suit the Reds and so on this occasion, Souness’ point holds up.
