Jamie Redknapp has given his verdict on Liverpool and Uruguay international striker Darwin Nunez.

The former Liverpool player and Sky Sports pundit does not think that Nunez will ever be clinical, but he has noted how he makes Jurgen Klopp’s side a major threat going on the attack.

So, what has Jamie Redknapp said about Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez? Let’s take a look.

Jamie Redknapp comments on Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez

Well, Liverpool took on Bournemouth away from home in the Premier League this past weekend.

Darwin Nunez scored two goals. Jurgen Klopp’s side won the game 4-0.

In the build-up to the match, former Liverpool player Jamie Redknapp analysed Nunez.

The Sky Sports pundit said that the 24-year-old Uruguay international will never become a clinical finisher, but he outlined how he is a danger to the opposition defenders every time he plays.

Redknapp said about Nunez on Sky Sports Premier League (4:03 pm, January 21, 2024): “I don’t think that Darwin’s ever going to be a clinical finisher. I don’t think anybody (thinks that), but what he has walked to Liverpool is that maybe a chaos factor, which I like.

“I like players sometimes that do things differently, that run and chase in beyond ease. It must be a nightmare to play against. I’m sure he frustrates people, I’m sure he frustrates his manager at times, but what you know you’re gonna get out of him is 100%.

“The crowd adore him. He’s so infectious. And you know, at times, he’s going to rattle one in the top corner like he did here a few years ago, and he might miss you an open goal. But you know what, I’m sure Jurgen Klopp will take that.”

My View: Darwin Nunez an important part of Liverpool’s attack

While Darwin Nunez can be frustrating with his misses, Liverpool do not always need his goals.

After all, the Reds have the great Mohamed Salah, who is a goal machine. The Egyptian has scored 14 goals and given eight assists in 20 Premier League matches already this season.

Of course, Liverpool fans will want Nunez to take his chances. His conversation rate this season is only 13%, so clearly he needs to work on his finishing.

However, Nunez is a handful for the opposition defenders. The striker is quick, makes good runs, connects well with his fellow attacking players, and his unpredictability in terms of his finishing means that the opponents cannot let him be in good positions.
