Liverpool No.18 Cody Gakpo has now claimed that he is quicker than he has ever been throughout his career.
The 24-year-old made the comments when speaking to the Carabao Cup’s official X account.
So, what did Cody Gakpo say? Let’s take a look…
Cody Gakpo quicker than ever before
Well, the Netherlands international was taking part in a Q&A session with Curtis Jones.
When the Liverpool duo were asked who the quickest player at Anfield currently is, Gakpo interrupted to reveal that he just recorded a “new record” in terms of speed.
The Dutchman said: “Wait a minute. I just hit (a) top speed the other day, new record, so I am now in the top four of the team.”
Gakpo then went on to name Luis Diaz as the fastest player at Liverpool – something Jones strongly disagreed with.

Gakpo defended his answer, saying: “Okay, Darwin is really fast, obviously, but the numbers don’t lie.”
Surprisingly, there was no mention of Mohamed Salah whatsoever, who appears to be one of the quickest footballers in the Premier League – to the naked eye at least.
Liverpool are in for a treat if Cody Gakpo really is getting quicker
In our view, it should excite Liverpool fans to hear that Gakpo has just recorded a new top speed.
The £35m man isn’t exactly slow, although he does not possess the raw pace which has made the likes of Salah and Sadio Mane so effective under Jürgen Klopp in a counter attacking system.

Nevertheless, if Gakpo – who Stan Collymore thinks should be sold – really is becoming quicker, it bodes well for his Liverpool career.
