Neil Lennon claimed that he had never seen anything like one moment involving Alisson Becker as Liverpool ended up losing to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
The Reds’ Premier League title hopes have been dealt a huge blow. An early Eberechi Eze goal proved to be the only difference on a day where Liverpool blew so many unbelievable chances.
It was a baffling afternoon for Liverpool. But it could have been worse.
Andrew Robertson made an unbelievable clearance off the line during the first-half.

And Alisson Becker made an incredible stop from Jean-Philippe Mateta as Liverpool started to get desperate in their push for an equaliser.
Mateta seemed to have a simple task to put the Eagles 2-0 ahead when he was just a couple of yards out in the second-half. But Alisson somehow got something on the ball to keep it out of the back of the net.

“Oh my goodness. I’ve never seen anything like that. Alisson puts a big arm out and he saves it. Alisson has just kept Liverpool in the title race,” he said.
Jerzy Dudek moment for Alisson Becker fails to inspire turnaround
Lennon may claim that he had never seen anything like the save. But it arguably evoked memories of Jerzy Dudek in the Champions League final 19 years ago. Dudek, of course, somehow stopped Andriy Shevchenko’s close range strike.
On that occasion, that seemed to be the confirmation that it would be Liverpool’s night in Istanbul. Unfortunately, there was to be no heroics down the other end of the field on Sunday.
Curtis Jones would miss an incredible chance shortly after. And that would prove to be the story of Liverpool’s afternoon.
Liverpool created more than enough to get themselves across the line and back above Manchester City.
Given how this title race has been contested, it would be no surprise if this defeat proved to be the defining moment in Liverpool’s league campaign.
