'Never seen anything like it': Trent Alexander-Arnold shares what Klopp had Liverpool doing in pre-season

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has now been lifting the lid on what Jurgen Klopp tasked his side with in pre-season this year.

Unfortunately, Trent Alexander-Arnold hasn’t been available as much as he would have liked in the Liverpool legend’s last season as manager.

Jurgen Klopp has only been able to start the defender 19 times in the league this season.

And whilst that’s allowed Conor Bradley to start his exciting career at Anfield, Trent has been sorely missed.

The defender’s hamstring issue earlier in the season was then followed by a knee injury, which will hopefully now be behind him.

Because as well being tasked with helping revive Liverpool’s title push, Trent will also be hoping to start for England at the Euros.

Gareth Southgate has oddly overlooked the defender in the past, perhaps favouring a more ‘safe’ approach.

But given the levels Trent has now reached, which seem to have been helped by a gruelling pre-season schedule at Liverpool, his talent is now almost impossible to ignore.

Trent Alexander-Arnold says Jurgen Klopp never stops Liverpool players running in pre-season

That being said, the Liverpool defender has now been lifting the lid on this year’s pre-season, the last under Klopp.

Trent was speaking with Gary Neville on The Overlap and said he’d ‘never seen anything like it.’

Liverpool are renowned for being one of the world’s best pressing sides, and perhaps Trent’s words explain why.

He shared: “You struggle at first, the first two or three months of it or pre-season, you have never seen anything like it.

“It’s just like you can’t stop running. Not in a bad punishment way, it’s just like this is the way we play and we are going to beat them because they’re going to get tired and we’re not.

“The messaging is that our back line has to be high because we are pressing them as much as we can.”

Of course, staff at Liverpool may still be hoping that those efforts will ultimately make the difference in the title-race.

Klopp’s side are suddenly in a precarious position after losing just two games.

But with another historic European comeback needed against Atalanta, and something similar in the league too, those worries are legitimate.

Both represent a tough challenge, but with Trent back in his Liverpool side, who knows what can happen.

All that being said, Trent did recently claim that one player Liverpool sold was just like Cristiano Ronaldo.
