‘My word’: Owen Hargreaves says £35m Liverpool player is truly ‘special’

There’s been a lot to shout about at Liverpool this season.

The Reds are sitting pretty in the box seat in the title race, and they know that their destiny is in their own hands between now and the end of the season.

Liverpool have been utterly brilliant this term, and many of their star players have been at their very best.

The usual suspects such as Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk have had plenty of praise as of late, but perhaps the most impactful player at Anfield recently has been a player who only arrived in the summer.

Alexis Mac Allister has been incredible

Speaking on the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast, Owen Hargreaves has been discussing Alexis Mac Allister’s recent form.

The Argentine has been brilliant as of late, scoring an absolute belter against Sheffield United this week, and it’s fair to say that Hargreaves has been impressed.

“You talk about the signing of the season and you say Cole Palmer, what about Alexis Mac Allister? My word, what a signing he has been, that strike he hit the other day was just a breath of fresh air against Sheffield United, he’s a special player,” Hargreaves said.

Alexis Mac Allister has stepped up

It’s been incredible to watch Mac Allister go about his business in recent weeks.

We’re entering the business end of the season, and many players can wilt under this pressure.

However, Mac Allister is instead thriving in this environment, somehow, he seems to be getting better and better with each passing week, and if Liverpool do hang on and ultimately go on to win the Premier League title this season, Mac Allister will have played a huge part in that.

As Hargreaves says, Mac Allister may just be the signing of the season at £35m.
