Liverpool tried to sign Denmark midfielder Jesper Lindstrom this summer, but he ended up rejecting the Reds.
The 23-year-old, a boyhood Liverpool fan, ended up joining Napoli instead.
At the time, Lindstrom explained why he rejected Jurgen Klopp’s side, admitting he had concerns over the game time available to him.
He said, as transcribed by Tuttonapoli: “Liverpool were also after me. I support Liverpool and it would’ve been a great opportunity.
“But how many minutes would I have been able to play? Would it have been smart to go to Liverpool?”

However, things haven’t quite panned out that way for the Liverpool summer target, at least as of yet.
‘What if he’s regretting it now?’
As per Transfermarkt, Lindstrom has made seven appearances for his new club thus far, and only one has been a start.
The Dane has made six Serie A appearances and one Champions League outing, for a total of just 149 minutes.
Tuttonapoli published an article entitled “Remember what Lindstrom said about Liverpool? What if he’s regretting it now?”
The Italian outlet reckons Lindstrom could actually have played more for Liverpool this season.
This is because Klopp often rotates his forward line and makes use of the options at his disposal.
They say it’s ‘too bad he hadn’t reckoned’ with manager Rudi Garcia, suggesting he may have not known the coach would’ve treated him this way.
Liverpool, for their part, will not be rueful in the slightest, considering how well their new midfield signings have been doing.
Indeed, Dominik Szoboszlai is a contender for one of the signings of the season, so there’ll be no complaints from the Reds fanbase over the attacking midfield option they went for.
