Michael Edwards will make attempts to sign Bayern Munich No.6 Joshua Kimmich this summer – regardless of who replaces Jurgen Klopp.
That is according to Christian Falk – Head of Football at BILD.
So, what is the situation involving Liverpool and Joshua Kimmich? Let’s take a look…
Liverpool want Joshua Kimmich regardless of who replaces Jurgen Klopp
Well, a manager will usually work alongside a CEO like Edwards and a Director of Football – Richard Hughes is set to be announced shortly – to identify transfer targets.
However, Edwards – who became famous in his Director of Football role at Anfield for the signings of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and his many shrewd sales – has his sights set on one player regardless of any managerial appointment in Kimmich.
Falk told BILD: “As is well known, Jurgen Klopp is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, but it doesn’t change the plans that they want to, at least try to get Kimmich in Liverpool.
“So, they’ll keep going and nothing has changed just because Klopp is moving, Liverpool are very much following Kimmich’s career.”
The Germany international will soon enter the final 12 months of his contract at Bayern Munich, and there is yet to be any progress on a renewal.

The German – who Glen Johnson thinks Liverpool must sign – has scored one goal while also providing seven assists in 30 appearances this season, while amassing 82 caps for Germany throughout his career.
Trent Alexander-Arnold could interchange with the German
If Edwards does manage to sign Kimmich, Liverpool would have two players who excel in both the right-back position and also while playing central midfield, in him and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Edwards attempts to sign the 29-year-old.
