124 Chris Sutton has suggested other Liverpool players might well choose to follow Jurgen Klopp and even Virgil van Dijk out of Anfield.
Klopp announced before the weekend that he will be stepping down from the Liverpool job in the summer. Since then, there’s been all sorts of reaction and discussion about who might replace him and which players might also go.
Jason McAteer suggested at the weekend that the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold might end up following. Indeed, Van Dijk has since been non-committal over his future.
And speaking on the It’s All Kicking Off Podcast today, former PL winner Sutton added in Andy Robertson to the mix as well.

Speaking about Klopp and the hole he will leave at the club, Sutton questioned whether certain players would also see it as an end of an era for them.
“I feel sad that he’s leaving because he’s been such a giant. But it’s the challenge since he’s been in at Liverpool and how they’ve pushed Manchester City. Without Klopp, City would have just romped to absolutely everything. I suppose there are also people out there who think it’s the end of an era with Klopp. Looks like Salah will move on. Would the likes of Van Dijk think well Klopp brought me into Liverpool and think about elsewhere. Just another challenge. I think it will have had a massive impact on the team and they’ll be desperate for Klopp to leave on a high. You can’t speak for individuals like Van Dijk but maybe Robertson as well, maybe they’ll see that as an end of an era and move on,” Sutton said.
Robertson has been one of the Reds’ top and most important players since signing for just £8m.
The notion that he might be one of the players to follow Klopp out of Liverpool would be hard to fathom.
Indeed, of all the players at Liverpool at the moment, Robertson seems to be one who would more than likely stick around and see if he can help kick the next group along.
Despite Sutton’s suggestion here, it would be a huge surprise to see Andy Robertson leave Liverpool.
