'Massive threat': Jurgen Klopp names the two Arsenal players he thought were really dangerous yesterday

Jurgen Klopp has admitted that Liverpool found it difficult to deal with Arsenal duo Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard yesterday.

Liverpool picked up a 2-0 win at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon thanks to a late Jakub Kiwior own goal and a stunning finish from Luis Diaz.

But it certainly wasn’t plain-sailing for Jurgen Klopp’s side and in truth, Liverpool were second-best in the first half.

Indeed, Arsenal proved to be wasteful in front of goal once again, with the likes of Kai Havertz, Reiss Nelson and Martin Odegaard all going close.

The Gunners were eventually made to rue their missed chances as Liverpool improved dramatically in the second half.

But Klopp has highlighted the performances of Havertz and Odegaard, admitting the duo caused Liverpool huge problems in the opening period.

Speaking to the media after yesterday’s game, Klopp admitted that Arsenal’s tactical set-up threw Liverpool off on Sunday.

“No, everything was better in the second half,” he said. “The first half… it’s difficult to prepare for something that Arsenal did tonight, for the full 90 minutes pretty much I would say but especially in the first half, the different set-up with [Kai] Havertz and [Martin] Odegaard more or less a double 10. It was a 4-2-2-2 with wingers wide, a massive threat.” as quoted by Liverpool’s official website.

Odegaard was arguably Arsenal’s standout performer on the day and was unfortunate not to open the scoring after rattling the crossbar in the first half.

Havertz also enjoyed some bright moments after starting as a striker in Gabriel Jesus’ absence. But his composure in front of goal ultimately let him down.

Scoring goals is clearly an issue for Arsenal at the moment and it’s led to them losing three of their last four games in all competitions.

It’s easy to see why they’ve been linked with a move for a new striker. But for the time being, Arteta will have to find a way to reinstall some confidence in front of goal.
