Mario Lemina suggests £35m Liverpool player is actually better than Marco Reus

Alexis Mac Allister is establishing himself as one of the best midfielders in world football.

The Argentine has had an incredible 12 months. He’s now a World Cup winner, and after an incredible season with Brighton, he’s earned a move to Liverpool where he’s thriving.

Mac Allister has to now be considered a premier talent within the game, and according to Mario Lemina, he’s one of the better players in Europe right now.

Indeed, Lemina was taking part in a TikTok challenge on Wolves’ page, and he had to rank a number of top players, and he made a claim about Mac Allister.

The Wolves star put Mac Allister in at number nine in his ranking, interestingly, placing him ahead of another former Jurgen Klopp favourite – Marco Reus.

This is an interesting debate to say the least.

Reus has become something of a legend at Borussia Dortmund over the years, but Mac Allister is already threatening to overtake his legacy.

Unfortunately, due to injury, Reus isn’t a World Cup winner, missing out in 2014, while he also arrived at Dortmund too late to win either of the two league titles under Klopp.

Meanwhile, Mac Allister looks to be on course for a potential quadruple this season, and if he’s able to secure that amount of silverware for Liverpool, his CV will already exceed Reus’ at the age of just 25.

Of course, in terms of individual talent, this is a very close run debate, but due to the fact he’s performed over a longer period of time at the very top level, we’d probably edge for Reus ahead of the £35m Liverpool man.

Jurgen Klopp, of course, knows both players very well, and it would be very interesting to hear what the Liverpool manager’s take on this particular debate would be at the moment.
