Julen Lopetegui is one of the managers Liverpool are looking at as a successor to Jurgen Klopp.
That is according to journalist Ben Jacobs, who has named the other managers who are in the frame to take charge of Liverpool.
So, what has been reported about Liverpool and Julen Lopetegui? Let’s take a look.
Julen Lopetegui linked with Liverpool manager’s job
Well, Jurgen Klopp announced last week that he is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.
The German manager is running out of energy and has decided that it would be best if he stepped down from his role at Liverpool.
The former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners have already been linked with a number of managers, including Julian Nagelsmann.

Jacobs has noted that former Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso will be a leading contender.
While noting that “Roberto De Zerbi, Julian Nagelsmann and Ange Postecoglou will also be considered” by Liverpool, the well-known and well-respected reporter that “an outside contender is Julen Lopetegui”.
My View: Julen Lopetegui would be an underwhelming appointment for Liverpool
In my view, Julen Lopetegui would not be a particularly inspiring managerial appointment for Liverpool. I think that the Anfield faithful would find it quite underwhelming.
Lopetegui is a very experienced manager. He is 57 now and has been in charge of clubs such as Real Madrid and Sevilla.
The former Spain international has also managed in the Premier League with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
However, Lopetegui has not been overly successful. He did not win anything major at FC Porto and was sacked by Madrid. With Sevilla, though, he won the UEFA Europa League in 2019-20.
During his managerial stint at Wolves, Lopetegui won nine out of 23 matches in the Premier League. He lost 10 and drew four games.
