Manager who reportedly wants to join Liverpool is definitely going to leave his club this summer

Thomas Tuchel will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season – amid reports he wants to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

That is according to Florian Plettenburg of Sky Germany.

So, what is the situation involving Thomas Tuchel and Liverpool? Let’s take a look…

Thomas Tuchel set to leave Bayern Munich

Well – according to Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports – the German would “absolutely adore” the chance to replace Klopp at Anfield.

Now – in a development many expected, given Bayern Munich’s woeful form – Tuchel is set to leave the Allianz Arena this summer.

Plettenburg wrote on X (previously known as Twitter): “EXCLUSIVE News. After good and fair discussions FC Bayern and Thomas Tuchel have decided to part ways at the end of the season! Announcement soon.”

The decision has since been confirmed by Tuchel himself.

The 50-year-old has struggled to compete with Xabi Alonso this season, finding himself eight points behind the Spaniard’s unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen side in the Bundesliga.

Tuchel has also see his men lose the German Super Cup, be knocked out of the DFB-Pokal by Saarbruecken, and must overturn a 1-0 deficit against Lazio to stay in the UEFA Champions League.

Liverpool face Xabi Alonso fight

Interestingly – according to Fabrizio Romano – Bayern Munich want Alonso to replace Tuchel.

That is despite the fact Liverpool are also keen to hire the 42-year-old and have already made contact, according to Foot Mercato.

Therefore, we could witness something of a managerial merry-go-round this summer, with plenty of high profile clubs set for a change. Xavi is also leaving Barcelona, to give another example.

Whatever happens, Liverpool should expect to be involved in a battle with Bayern Munich for Alonso’s signature after his outstanding efforts this season.

There has been one positive update – however – with a separate story from the aforementioned Foot Mercato claiming that Alonso would prefer a move to Anfield.
