Darren Bent has tipped Roberto Firmino to return to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker and talkSPORT pundit believes that a return to Liverpool would make sense for Firmino.

So, what has Darren Bent said about Liverpool and Roberto Firmino? Let’s take a look.

Roberto Firmino tipped to return to Liverpool

Well, Darren Bent believes that if Roberto Firmino is to leave Saudi Arabia in the January transfer window, then he should move back to Liverpool.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker and talkSPORT pundit believes that a return to Liverpool would be best for Firmino if he is to leave Al-Ahli in the middle of the season.

The Brazilian forward joined Al-Ahli on a free transfer in the summer of 2023 after leaving Liverpool, but, according to talkSPORT, he could be on the move in January.

Firmino, who is rated highly by Liverpool legend John Barnes, is frustrated by Al-Ahli’s system. The Saudi Pro League club are willing to send him out on loan in January. Sheffield United are interested.

Bent said about Firmino and Liverpool on talkSPORT (6:47 pm, December 29, 2023): “The only place I want to see Roberto Firmino go back to is Liverpool. That’s the only one that makes sense because he is one of them. Do you know what I mean?”

When asked if Tottenham could be an option, Bent said: “Potentially, but I want to see him at Liverpool if he goes anywhere.”

My View: Liverpool and Roberto Firmino reunion will not happen

In my view, there is no way that Roberto Firmino will return to Liverpool in the January transfer window.

I do not think that the Reds will want the 32-year-old back, and I am not sure if the Brazilian forward would want to rejoin the Merseyside club either.

Firmino is 32 now and is past his prime. The Brazilian forward made only 13 starts in the Premier League for Liverpool last season, although I must point out that he scored 11 goals in the league.

Liverpool have a new-look front-line at the moment. Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo are the four main players in attack that manager Jurgen Klopp is using at the moment.

Diogo Jota and Harvey Elliott are also good options for Klopp, who wants Gakpo to play the role that Firmino used to.

Moreover, Firmino earns £326,000 per week (The Mirror) at Al-Ahli. There is no way that Liverpool will be able to afford that or will want to pay that.
