Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has claimed that people who are ruling Manchester City out of the Premier League title race don’t know what they’re talking about.

The Reds went four points clear of the treble winners in the Premier League table after beating Sheffield United last night. Manchester City, on the other hand, suffered a 1-0 defeat against Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.

Jurgen Klopp makes claim about Manchester City after Liverpool’s win

As they always do, Manchester City started the season as the favourites to win the Premier League title.

Pep Guardiola‘s side have won the league in five of the last six years, which is a truly extraordinary achievement. They deserve immense praise for that.

However, this season, Manchester City haven’t been at their best. They have dropped points in six of their first 15 league games, and that has led to some people questioning if they can still win the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp, whose Liverpool side are definitely competing for the crown this season, has shut down suggestions that City are not in the title race after a difficult start to the campaign.

When asked if the title race will go down to the wire this season, Klopp said, as per Liverpool’s official website: “I have no clue! If we win it, I hope not. I have no clue. We will see that.

“I don’t know if they lose or whatever, if somebody would write City off, that would be the biggest joke in the history of football, that really makes no sense.”

Jurgen Klopp is right about Man City

Dropping points in over a third of their first 15 games is very unlike Manchester City, but it would be silly to say they are not in contention to win the Premier League title.

Pep Guardiola is arguably the greatest manager football has ever seen, while Manchester City’s squad is definitely up there with the best this league has produced over the years.

If there’s any team that can go on a ridiculous run of winning 15 games on the bounce, it’s probably Manchester City, and that’s why you can never rule them out of the title race.

However, we’re sure both Arsenal and Liverpool are delighted that they are ahead of City in the league table after 15 games.
