'Looks a little bit special': Gary Lineker left in awe of £85m player Liverpool really want to sign

Ahead of the Euros this summer, Gary Lineker has now been lauding one top talent that Liverpool are very interested in signing.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are certainly having no issue with their potency in front of goal right now, even with Mohamed Salah away.

Both Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota stood up brilliantly for Liverpool down at Bournemouth last night, showing all of the side’s title credentials.

And whilst Liverpool’s squad does now look in very strong condition, there’s still one name that’s often mentioned.

Jurgen Klopp has excellent knowledge of the Bundesliga, and that has seemingly led to the club’s interest in Florian Wirtz.

The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder is currently trying to inspire an unlikely title win for Xabi Alonso’s side, and has arguably been the club’s best player this season.

Therefore, it’s no surprise that the 20-year-old carries a price tag of around £85m for the coming summer.

However, that is unlikely to be a fee that puts Liverpool off if they do chase a deal.

And all that being said Gary Lineker has now been sharing his interpretation of Wirtz’s potential, a player who could fit so well at Liverpool.

Gary Lineker has been blown away by Liverpool target Florian Wirtz

Lineker was speaking on ‘The Rest is Football’ podcast and said that Wirtz looked like a special talent.

He said: “Have you seen much of Florian Wirtz? 20-year-old German, he plays high up on the left hand side.

“He is going to be a player. I’m telling you.

“I have seen him play a few times now and he has got so much talent, I really like him.

“I think he has played 18 times for the German national team. He looks a little bit special to me.

“Certainly one to look out for in the Euros this summer as well as this particular season.”

Of course, in Gary Lineker’s next breath he would probably agree that Wirtz would be incredibly suited to both Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp’s philosophy.

Although Liverpool already look close to the finished product, there’s still one or two profiles which would benefit the squad.

Firstly, a world-class defensive midfielder would still look advised even if Alexis Mac Allister is doing a stellar job.

And secondly, a talent akin to Wirtz certainly wouldn’t go a miss, a player who can play in both the middle and forward three.

That being said, one ‘little magician’ proved why he deserved to be a Liverpool starter last night
