Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are interested in signing Johan Bakayoko, but Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur are emerging as a threat.
That is according to journalist Rudy Galetti, who has reported on X that Tottenham want to sign a new winger in the January transfer window.
So, what has been reported about Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Johan Bakayoko? Let’s take a look.
Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool linked with Johan Bakayoko
Well, according to Rudy Galetti on X, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are interested in signing Johan Bakayoko from PSV in the January transfer window.
The Italian journalist has claimed that Liverpool “strongly” appreciate the 20-year-old Belgium international winger.
Galetti has added that Bakayoko is now emerging as a target for Spurs.
PSV Eindhoven manager Peter Bosz rates Bakayoko highly and said this month that the winger is destined for great things.
Bosz has tipped the 20-year-old Belgian winger to eventually leave PSV and sign for a top club.
Former Arsenal player Adrian Clarke has compared Bakayoko to Gunners winger Bukayo Saka, saying on the Handbrake Off Podcast in September: “There’s a player on the right wing, their most exciting player and most dangerous player is the right winger. A kid called Johan Bakayoko. He’s only 20, he’s quick, he’s like Saka, he’s their version of Saka.”
My View: Johan Bakayoko unlikely to join Tottenham or Liverpool in January
I do not think that Tottenham Hotspur or Liverpool will be able to sign Johan Bakayoko from PSV in the January transfer window.
I do not see PSV selling any of their best players in the middle of the season, and that includes Bakayoko.
Photo by Aaron van Zandvoort/Soccrates/Getty ImagesAfter all, PSV are aiming to win the Eredivisie title this season. They are way ahead in the lead, but they cannot be complacent in getting the job done.
Moreover, the Dutch club will take on German outfit Borussia Dortmund in the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League this season.
So, why would PSV sell Bakayoko in January? Bakayoko has scored three goals and given eight assists in the Eredivisie and has scored one goal and provided one assist in six UEFA Champions League matches this season.
