209 Liverpool have reportedly set their sights on Lille defender and Manchester United target Leny Yoro.
The Reds apparently have ‘several profiles’ in mind as they pursue long-term replacements for the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip.
According to Le10 Sport, Liverpool are ‘drooling’ over the prospect of signing Yoro, who has also been linked with Man United and Manchester City.
The report says the Anfield outfit are ‘determined to play a role’ in the 18-year-old’s future amid interest from the likes of the Red Devils.
Both Liverpool and Man United could do with bolstering their defensive ranks next year.
Joel Matip has only just undergone surgery on an anterior cruciate ligament, so he’s likely to be out for months.
Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag’s team is struggling at present and, despite Harry Maguire returning to form, they could do with yet more defensive reinforcements.
Liverpool and Manchester United eyeing Leny Yoro
Yoro would likely be one for the future, but based on his current trajectory, he looks like he could become a star for a big club like Liverpool or Man United.
The 6ft 3in talent turned 18 just a month ago and already has 35 senior appearances for Lille under his belt, as well as four France Under-21 caps.
As per TEAMtalk, Yoro is ‘comfortable on the ball and when pressed he uses his frame to shield the ball from the opposition, where his technical ability shines as he can keep close control of the ball before passing to a teammate or putting the ball out of play and away from danger.’
‘His extensive passing range allows him to switch the ball to wide areas with accuracy from deep and enables Lille to switch from a shorter passing style to a more direct way of progressing the ball whenever it is suited.’
Thierry Henry, who manages the France Under-21s, has sung Yoro’s praises in recent months.
“What he is doing is extraordinary,” Henry said in November, via Le10Sport. “Another young player who is having good matches.
“Warren Zaire-Emery attracts a little more attention by being at PSG, playing in the Champions League, he has just joined the A. But it’s true that Leny is doing a huge job at the moment.”
According to Foot Mercato, Lille have placed a €50million (£43million) price tag on Yoro.
