Arne Slot continues to round out his coaching staff.
Liverpool have announced today the addition of a new member to Arne Slot’s coaching staff. The club post notes that John Heitinga will be joining the club as an assistant coach.
Folks may find his visage a touch familiar and that’s because he spent the previous season working with David Moyes at West Ham. In London, Heitinga was also a first-team assistant for the Scotsman.
Heitinga’s CV includes playing for Ajax and earning caps for the Netherlands as a center-back. He has also coached for Ajax’s youth side and then led the senior team for a few months at the end of the 2022-2023 season.
It will be interesting to see what role Heitinga will play inside of Slot’s set-up. And, more, what these changes will mean in terms of tactics, formations, and roles for the team. Fans, gratefully, won’t have to wait too much longer to get some of these questions answered as the first pre-season match kicks off in less than two weeks with the squad kicking their pre-season tour off against Real Betis on July 27.
