As well as a win against Brentford, Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp are now celebrating a start to the season which has matched a club record.

Liverpool finished 3-0 winners against Brentford, even if they had to work hard for their clean sheet in the end.

And via OptaJoe on X, Liverpool have now matched a record that stems from May 1980.

Liverpool have now won all nine of their home games in all competitions this season by two or more goals.

Of course, the target will now be to surpass that long-standing record when Liverpool host LASK in the Europa League after the international break.

Klopp’s side do face a trip to Manchester City beforehand, a game that might be taking their attention.

However, with home games to come against LASK, Fulham and then Manchester United, Klopp may be confident that his Liverpool side can keep this record going.

Mohamed Salah was excellent once again for Liverpool yesterday, fleeting in and out of the game with decisive moments.

And Diogo Jota simply couldn’t believe just how consistent the Egyptian has been for Liverpool over the years.

As well as being exceptional going forwards, Liverpool have also made big improvements at the back this season.

Virgil van Dijk’s return to the top of his game has been a key reason as to why Klopp’s side have fared so well this campaign.

And when the Dutch captain is playing well, he proves infectious to those around him.

Alisson Becker was also brilliant in retaining his clean sheet at Anfield yesterday, another vital cog in Klopp’s team.

It’s all coming together for Liverpool right now, and it’s no surprise that they are now finally being discussed as part of the title race.

And although it won’t further this record, Klopp must believe that his Liverpool side can make a real statement at the Etihad after the break.

Darwin Nunez will undoubtedly be key to any victory, a player who Ian Wright thinks is now improving all of the time.
