Most Liverpool fans accept that there’s going to be a time in the not too distant future that sees Liverpool line up without Mo Salah.
The Egyptian legend remains Liverpool’s key player and the Reds will be hoping to get through his time at the AFCON very much still in the title hunt.
Liverpool have, in recent windows, moved to sign players who can do a good job in attacking areas. The likes of Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota have all been signed to try and take the load off of Salah, and to an extent, they do the business.
However, getting that true replacement for Salah is the big step for the Reds. And while the search will throw up a number of names, a door might have just opened in the form of Bayern Munich star, Jamal Musiala.

Of course, mentioning Musiala here is not just plucked out of thin air.
The talented youngster is a player very much on the radar of Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp. The Reds have been credited with holding an interest in Musiala, who is seen as one of the most talented players in Germany right now.
And after Fabrizio Romano provided an update on his contract situation today, the door could be open for Liverpool to move.
“There is also no update so far on a new deal for Jamal Musiala. Bayern are focused on the January window and so there is no news on contracts,” Romano said for CaughtOffside.
Of course, Bayern are expected to try and pursue a new deal for Musiala after the window.
But when a small door like this does open, clubs like Liverpool can’t afford to let it slip by.
Liverpool know they have a small chance – if any – of getting the 20-year-old but if ever there was a time to get in there, it is now.
Liverpool’s signings in recent years have been good in the main. But they’ve not quite added that potential superstar to the ranks.
Musiala is that man for Liverpool. Lauded by Harry Kane as a player with ‘incredible‘ talent, the versatile attacking midfielder has so, so much to offer.
Yes, he’s slightly different in style to Mo Salah. But Liverpool are never going to get a like for like Salah replacement.
Musiala, then, might be the next best thing and based on today’s update, a small window of opportunity has arisen.
