With a move to a new stadium, Liverpool have partnered with Expedia to make sure supporters have an easy way to get to matches.

There have been big changes for the Liverpool FC Women over the past two seasons, with most of them being overwhelmingly positive. FSG have renewed their focus on the Women’s side of the club after years of being left in the wilderness, investing into the players as well as the facilities.

After purchasing Melwood back as a permanent training facility for the LFC Women, the club turned their attention to finding a better and more permanent solution for the matchday facilities. Liverpool had spend the previous several season playing at Prenton Park, which did not have any dedicated for the LFC players, and the grounds did not provide for much in the way of concessions or other amenities for the supporters.

Liverpool announced at the end of last season that the club had signed a 10 year lease to play at St. Helens Stadium, which boasted much more modern facilities and amenities for both the players and supporters. With the stadium being located further out of the city center, many supporters were rightfully concerned about both mode of transportation to get to the stadium, as well as cost.

Liverpool have listened to the concerns and have announced that they have expanded their partnership with Expedia to charter coaches from Liverpool and the Wirral to St. Helens Stadium at no cost to the supporters. This is an expansion of the free coaches program that Expedia has sponsored to get supporters to away matches the last two seasons. Liverpool chief commercial officer, Ben Latty, spoke about the excitement around the expanded partnership with Expedia along with the larger focus on investment in the Women’s team.

“We’re so thrilled that Expedia are able to expand this free travel for a third season. It’s meant a lot to our fans and the team. Last season we had some memorable away results and it was great that our fans didn’t miss the action by not being able to get there.

“The move to St Helens is an exciting new era for the women’s team and follows the significant investment in the acquisition and redevelopment of the AXA Melwood Training Centre, which has given the players and staff the best facilities possible. We’re also continuing to invest in the squad, backroom and wider infrastructure for the women’s first team and Pro Game Academy.

“As we move into our new home the supporters are an important part of this new chapter and we are delighted that Expedia’s free transport will now include home matches.”

Liverpool are hoping that the access to free transportation, newer and more modern amenities, along with the strong performance last season will continue to see crowds grow for the women’s side at home matches. There is certainly a buzz around the side that is expected to compete for a European spot (top three) in the table.
