Liverpool look like they’re going to have a quiet January transfer window.
The Reds are top of the league and flying at the moment, and as the old saying goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Of course, there are areas of the Liverpool squad that could do with improving.
Joel Matip’s injury has arguably left the Reds short at centre-back, but according to James Pearce, speaking on the Walk On Podcast, Liverpool aren’t in any great rush to sign a centre-back this month due to the emergence of Jarell Quansah.

Pearce shared what he’s been hearing from Liverpool about January additions.
“Liverpool-wise it’s very quiet, all the noises coming at the club are that Klopp is happy with what he’s got. Of course they need to bolster at centre-half because of what they’ve got, but there’s no sense of urgency because of the development of Quansah to such a level where he’s fully trusted and an established member of the first-team squad,”
Risky
At the moment, Liverpool have enough to get by at centre-back, they have four quality options in Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez and Quansah.
However, as Liverpool fans know all too well, things can change very quickly.
Let’s not forget, Konate and Gomez have terrible injury records as of late, while Van Dijk has had his own problems.
One or two strokes of bad luck and you’re, once again, staring the prospect of Nat Phillips starting in big games in the face.
If the right centre-back comes onto the market, Liverpool should be active, they can’t just rest on their laurels and let this window pass them by, even if Quansah is a ‘brilliant’ player who can be a fantastic option at centre-half.
In our view, Liverpool need to have at least half an eye on potential defensive additions this month.
