Pre-Match

We already beat Wet Hams, time to beat Full Hams. Jokes aside, the Reds will need to be on it, despite being favorites to progress to the final over two legs against Fulham. The Cottagers have been tough opponents season, including giving Liverpool a scare in their 4-3 loss last time at Anfield. Liverpool will also be without 3 of their 4 most essential, irreplaceable players—Alisson, Trent, and Mo Salah—but Virgil is over his illness and returns to the starting lineup to lead the back line, and the lads out of the tunnel.

First Half

The Reds are dominating possession early, and quick to win it back with an aggressive press. Diogo Jota appears to be in the mood to continue scoring goals tonight, and looks to be the mood to score.

However, Fulham score the opener against the run of play after some real clown shoes defending, starting, shockingly with a poor clearance by Van Dijk.

As the half wears on, Liverpool aren’t looking quite as sharp as they did to start the match, but are still pushing forward in numbers and asking questions. But the Reds are beginning to show signs of tiredness as the half enters its final minutes, so perhaps it would be good for everyone with some orange slices and a little halftime pep talk and/or adjustments.

Second Half

It’s another bright start to the half by the Reds, but have yet to find the final ball. After about 10 minutes Klopp brings on Gakpo and Nunez for Elliott and Gravenberch.

The Reds have really ratcheted up the pressure since the second half kicked off, and are finally rewarded for their endeavors after a Curtis Jones shot is deflected into the net. Game on! A few minutes later Darwin picks up the ball in the box, drives to the byline, and pulls it back for Gakpo to poke home. It wasn’t an easy finish for the Dutch international, as he had to dig it out from behind him.

Final Thoughts

The Reds held on to a narrow victory, which was about as good as they could hope for with the missing players and rough start to the match.
