Liverpool face Arsenal this weekend in a game that could have huge ramifications on the title race.

The Reds and the Gunners are battling to be the team that sits top of the league on Christmas Day, and historically, that is a strong position to be in.

Of course, both teams will come into this game acutely aware of how good their opponents are, and speaking to BBC Radio Five Live, Jurgen Klopp has singled out one Arsenal player for praise.

Indeed, Klopp says that while Arsenal are a fantastic team, they’ve been made even better by the addition of Declan Rice in the midfield.

Klopp praises Rice

The Liverpool boss gave his verdict on Rice’s addition to this Arsenal side.

“We feel good after that game, but we know now that we’re playing probably the strongest team in the Premier League that is Arsenal, they’re really consistent, physically strong, they didn’t get worse with Declan in the team, let me say it like that, it will be a difficult game, but we have to make it difficult with Arsenal as well,” Klopp said.

So much better

Klopp suggests that Rice has made Arsenal a better team, and he’s not wrong.

The midfielder has been a key cog in this Arsenal side this season, and while the Gunners may not be clicking so much in an attacking sense this term, Rice has played a huge part in the north London club’s ascension to the top of the Premier League and their incredible defensive record.

Rice isn’t just a consistent player, he’s also a player who steps up in the big games as he’s shown with goals against both Chelsea and Manchester United this season, and we have to imagine that he’ll be bang up for this game against Liverpool on Saturday.

Liverpool vs Arsenal on Saturday could be one of the games of the season.
