'Knowing Mikel a little bit': Cesc Fabregas shares what Arsenal boss could now have planned v Liverpool tomorrow

Arsenal cult hero Cesc Fabregas has shared what he feels Gunners boss Mikel Arteta could have in store against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool on Sunday.

The Gunners will be hosting the Reds at the Emirates Stadium in the big 4:30pm Premier League kick-off between the two title-chasers.

Arsenal have won their last two in the league to return to title contention, currently sitting five points behind table-topping Liverpool.

Victory for Arteta‘s charges would blow the title race wide open, with Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa also in contention.

Cesc Fabregas backs Arsenal to ‘really go for it’

Fabregas, speaking on the BBC’s Planet Premier League podcast, believes Arteta will be going all out for the win rather than settling for a draw.

“I think knowing Mikel a little bit that he will want to win,” he said, as transcribed by Metro. “It’s a big opportunity for them to just close the gap.

“From my opinion, I would say that they will really go for it and they will try to close the gap as soon as possible because now it’s starting to be the time where the Premier League gets decided. Who will be the last two or three teams at the top until the end?

“Arsenal cannot afford to drop any more points. It is early in the season but it’s where you’re starting to see or feel who the real champions are. Who are the ones who will be able to hold on until the end or not?”

Arsenal and Liverpool set for titanic title tussle

Arsenal v Liverpool will hopefully be an exciting game of the highest quality between two sides eager to take a step closer to the Premier League title.

The Gunners have struggled against the Reds in recent years. They have only won two of their last 17 league games against Liverpool, both coming at the Emirates in July 2020 and October 2022.

However, Arsenal are the strongest they’ve been in years, so they’ll fancy their chances of getting a result, even though Liverpool are themselves a juggernaut at present.

In addition, the Gunners have won all seven of their Premier League home fixtures this season against teams from outside London, so let’s hope that’s a good omen against the Reds.
