Liverpool are hoping to wrap up top spot in Europa League Group E with a game to spare on Thursday night.
Jurgen Klopp‘s Reds host LASK at Anfield, and they’ll look to get another good result against the Austrian outfit.
In addition, Liverpool will hope to banish memories of their controversial 3-2 loss in Toulouse earlier this month.
The Reds will seal top spot if they beat LASK and nearest rivals Toulouse fail to see off Belgian side Union SG at home on the same night.
Klopp will likely rotate his starting XI again, and we predict Liverpool prodigy Ben Doak will get his fourth Reds start of the season in all competitions.
Photo by Jean Catuffe/Getty ImagesThe 18-year-old started against Toulouse, but things sadly didn’t go to plan for him (or Liverpool, for that matter).
He was hooked at half-time despite not playing badly – certainly not worse than most of the other players.
Doak almost scored with a half-volley, but it was straight at the keeper. He also embarked on a few interesting runs, although nothing much came of them.
Klopp may well opt to give the Scotland youth international another chance to see what he can do from the off at home against an opponent that Liverpool have already beaten once this term.
Doak has been one of the standout youngsters in the Liverpool ranks since joining the Reds from Celtic in 2022.
The Scotland youth international has already made nine competitive senior appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side, including three starts.
Liverpool and Scotland icon Kenny Dalglish recently claimed that Doak doesn’t seem far away from the senior international setup.
Described by James Milner as having ‘absolutely incredible’ abilities, the teenager certainly looks like he has a very bright future ahead of him.
To be closing in on double-figure appearances for Liverpool at just 18 years of age is an achievement. He’s still got a lot to learn, but he’s at the best possible place to do so.
