Fabrizio Romano does now have a fresh transfer update for Liverpool fans ahead of an expected move for Andre Trindade in January.
The Fluminense midfielder has been heavily linked with the club in the last few months, and Romano now has some positive news.
Photo by Caique Coufal/Eurasia Sport Images/Getty ImagesSpeaking on ‘The Here We Go Podcast’, Romano said that Liverpool do now look like the favourites for Andre in January.
Having now won the Copa Libertadores, Romano suggested that Andre does now have the club’s blessing to pursue a move to Europe.
And Liverpool are still in pole position.
Romano said: “Liverpool are still tracking him, Liverpool are still interested, Liverpool are still keeping contact with people close to the player.
“They’re not the only club, so the situation is still open but Liverpool for sure look like the favourites.”
And this news will undoubtedly be a boost to Liverpool fans given their side is currently operating without a typical number six.
Wataru Endo was recruited late in the summer, but Alexis Mac Allister has been the player adapting to a deeper role.
Romano says Liverpool are favourites to land a deal for Andre
Jurgen Klopp’s pursuit of a top defensive midfielder was well documented this summer, and these reports would suggest it’s not quite over yet.
Liverpool’s squad is already looking a lot stronger and better balanced this season, but it appears there’s still another piece to the puzzle.
Photo by Ricardo Moreira/Getty ImagesAnd given his performances for Fluminense, Liverpool’s reported interest in Andre looks well justified, and this Romano update could be promising.
However, after a frustrating draw against Luton Town yesterday, the immediate focus for Klopp will be improving his side’s finishing.
Darwin Nunez played remarkably well but simply couldn’t take any of his chances.
And Jamie Carragher did find it hard to defend the forward after he squandered a golden opportunity around the 70th minute.
Whilst Carragher expressed how much he enjoyed a lot of Nunez’s game, he simply couldn’t believe his finishing.
And those are thoughts echoed by so many football fans watching the Uruguayan striker.
A joy to watch, a striker as tenacious as they come, but one who simply can’t slow down in front of goal.
