'Just can't help': Jamie Carragher unhappy with £35m Liverpool player after seeing him v West Ham today

Liverpool failed to keep any sort of pressure on Arsenal and Manchester City today as they drew at West Ham United.

In a game that summed up their recent performances, Liverpool just didn’t get going as they have done for years under Jurgen Klopp and couldn’t hold onto their lead or then find a winner.

Goals from Andy Robertson and then and own goal from the Hammers goalkeeper looked to have put the Reds on their way to a morale boosting win.

However, Michail Antonio fired in the leveller and neither side could then find the equaliser.

For Liverpool, it was another performance of frustration and a number of their big players didn’t quite produce when it mattered the most.

In midfield, Liverpool had relative control of the game in the main but despite that, Jamie Carragher expressed his frustrations with one of the Reds midfielders.

Jamie Carragher not happy with Alexis Mac Allister

Taking to X on social media to to comment on the game, former Liverpool defender Carragher brought up the performance of midfielder, Alexis Mac Allister.

And while Carragher is impressed enough with the £35m man’s quality, he feels he has a major flaw in his game when it comes to giving away free-kicks.

McCallister is very similar to Thiago, quality on the ball but just can’t help giving free kicks away!

Liverpool are now out of the title race barring a huge miracle.

At the moment, they appear to have just ran out of steam at the most important time and the petty free-kicks given away by Mac Allister today just about sum them up recently.

Jurgen Klopp has seen his last season in charge end up being a major disappointment.

From being involved in all competitions to simply winning one and not even getting a sniff at the rest will be a major disappointment.

Mac Allister, of course, will grow and learn from his first season at Liverpool.

But as Carragher suggests here, he needs to get that element of his game ironed out and focus more on just influencing the game from the middle.
