Jurgen Klopp could start £50,000-a-week Liverpool player vs Manchester United, he's so 'underrated' - opinion

Liverpool take on Manchester United on Sunday, and Jurgen Klopp could hand a start to one of his most underrated players.

The focus is on the Reds now in this weekend’s round of games. Manchester City and Arsenal have both picked up convincing wins, and Mikel Arteta‘s side have even climbed up to the top of the Premier League table.

Both clubs will be hoping to see Liverpool drop points against Manchester United on Sunday. Klopp’s men have already suffered a defeat at Old Trafford once this season – in the FA Cup last month.

However, the German will have his side fired up for the game on Sunday, and one of his key players could return to the starting lineup.

Jurgen Klopp could start ‘underrated’ Liverpool player vs Manchester United

Liverpool have always been the favourites to beat Manchester United over the last few years.

The Reds have been incredible under Jurgen Klopp, while the Red Devils just haven’t been the team they once were when Sir Alex Ferguson was at the helm.

However, Erik ten Hag, despite what has been an underwhelming campaign, deserves some credit for the way his team has performed against Liverpool this season.

Manchester United have drawn one and won the other meeting with the Merseysiders, and Ten Hag would love nothing more than to avoid defeat again on Sunday.

However, Klopp will do everything he possibly can to beat Manchester United, and he seems to have suggested that one player will be back from his injury – Wataru Endo.

The £50,000-a-week (Spotrac) Japan international missed the game against Sheffield United midweek due to a knock, but Klopp claimed after the win that he expects him to return for the clash at Old Trafford.

We have a feeling Endo, branded as ‘underrated‘ by Asmir Begovic, will get the nod from the start in midfield alongside Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Key Wataru Endo stat shows he’s more important to Liverpool than you think

Many people felt Wataru Endo was a panic buy when Liverpool signed him last summer after missing out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.

That opinion has been thrown out of the window over the last few months, hasn’t it?

Endo has been one of Liverpool’s most important players this season, and until recently, he boasted the second-highest points-per-match among all the players in the Premier League, only below Rodri.

Since last weekend, after Manchester City dropped points against Arsenal, Endo is level with Rodri – they have both won 2.48 points per game in the league this season – more than any other player in the entire division (Fbref).

That makes him one of, if not the most important player at Liverpool right now, and if he starts against Manchester United on Sunday, Reds fans will back their side to get all three points.
