Liverpool will look to remain top of the Premier League table as they embark on a tricky trip to Nottingham Forest this weekend.

Fixtures continue to come in thick and fast for Jurgen Klopp‘s injury-depleted Reds, but they’re soldiering on and continuing to really impress.

Liverpool lifted the Carabao Cup at the weekend by beating Chelsea at Wembley and followed that up by hammering Southampton 3-0 at Anfield in midweek.

Now, the Reds will take on the 1979 and 1980 European Cup winners, who need to pick themselves up quickly after a late midweek loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup.

On the Liverpool injury front, things are getting a little better at least, with Klopp suggesting on Friday that several players could be back in contention.

“Darwin and Dom trained yesterday with the team,” the Liverpool boss said to the Reds media team. “So, they looked good, but we have to wait [to see] how they react.

“Wataru and Robbo didn’t, but there is the plan that they join in today, that’s the idea but we have to see if that really works out.

“Ibou, nothing, it [him not starting against Southampton] was just time-sharing. Lucho is fine, Macca is fine. They all look fine.

“I don’t think Mo is too far off, but he will not feature tomorrow and from there we have to go.”

Dominik Szoboszlai return would be major boost for Liverpool

With Liverpool’s midfield in particularly bad shape at present, it’s good to hear that Szoboszlai could be back for the Forest clash.

Admittedly, he has missed a lot of games due to injury this calendar year. Indeed, he has only turned out three times for Liverpool since the start January.

However, with the Reds lacking options in the middle of the park, Klopp could well look to bring him back from the off.

Let’s hope he’s fit enough to do so. Klopp saying he’s looking good suggests this may be the case.

Szoboszlai is an “unbelievable” talent who offers speed, physicality, technicality, creativity and much more, so if he’s back, Forest are in for a tough afternoon.
