Liverpool FC v Wolverhampton Wanderers - Premier League

The end of the Klopp era was marked by the now former manager ushering in his own replacement, with a new chant.

Emotions were naturally running high on Sunday as Liverpool marked the end of the Jürgen Klopp era.

The Reds dispatched Wolves at Anfield with a 2-0 win after goals from Jarrell Quansah and Alexis Mac Allister made sure that the boss got a proper send off.

“I’m completely surprised, I thought I’m already in pieces, to be honest, but I’m not. I’m so happy, I can’t believe it,” Klopp said, speaking to the crowd following the match.

“I’m so happy about you all, about the atmosphere, about the game, about being part of this family, about us, how we celebrated this day. It’s just incredible. Thank you so much.”

His kindness and humble acceptance of the ceremony (including matching hoodies and t-shirts) was marked also by welcoming in the new manager in possibly the best way he could - starting a chant for the Dutchman, Arne Slot.

While Slot has yet to be announced by the club, he confirmed the news earlier in the week when announcing that Sunday would be his last match as Feyenoord boss. Who needs club announcements when the incoming and outgoing managers do it for you?

The feelings of Klopp’s departure are still raw, and so an official announcement on this side will likely come in the coming weeks as opposed Monday, As it stands, though, the Jürgen Klopp era of Liverpool is officially concluded.
