Jurgen Klopp is set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season.
The German announced on Friday that he will be leaving the club this summer, and it’s fair to say that the fanbase have been left in despair after this announcement.
Liverpool fans across the country are gutted by this news, and we have to imagine the playing squad are also reeling.
This announcement could affect the squad in a number of ways, they could be galvanised by the idea of giving Klopp the perfect send-off, or they could be demoralised by the fact their leader is leaving at the end of the season.
Speaking on the Optus Sport Football Podcast, Oliver Kay has been discussing the mood within Liverpool after this news dropped, and he says that there’s been no indication whatsoever that the squad have been negatively affected by this news.

Kay spoke about the atmosphere at Liverpool now.
“Is there any indication at all that there may be a negative effect on the Liverpool side until the end of the season?” Kay was asked.
“No indication whatsoever, they’ve only had one match at the moment and that was against Norwich, they really dominated that match, it didn’t seem like a negative, they have some huge games coming up against Arsenal and Chelsea and that will shape the narrative around if this is a negative or it’s galvanised them,” Kay said.
Finish the story
Liverpool’s squad aren’t down after this news, and that’s because they have a job to do.
Klopp is leaving yes, but the story isn’t finished yet.
There’s a quadruple on offer this season, and you best believe the Reds will do all they can to win every trophy possible for the manager to give him the perfect send off.
Just as the Chicago Bulls did for Phil Jackson in The Last Dance, the news of Klopp’s departure may well give Liverpool the boost needed to kick on to even more success at the end of this chapter.
