Jordan Henderson asked to name player he'd pick to take penalty to save his life - and he doesn't choose Salah

Jordan Henderson has told BT Sport that he would pick Liverpool teammate James Milner if he had to name someone to take a penalty to save his life – in what may perhaps come as a surprise to some Reds fans.

Henderson actually boasts a flawless record when it comes to scoring penalties for the Reds. His one attempt came in a 4-1 loss to Arsenal back in 2015.

Unsurprisingly, it seems that the 32-year-old is not in the discussion when Jurgen Klopp’s side are awarded a penalty these days.

Liverpool are yet to be awarded a penalty in the Premier League this term. But they won eight last year.

Five were scored by Mohamed Salah, while one was missed. Meanwhile, Fabinho scored the other two. But one player who did not get the chance to take one was Milner.

In fact, Milner’s last goal from 12 yards came on Boxing Day 2019 in a 4-0 win at Leicester. Nevertheless, it seems that Henderson has absolutely no concerns over his ability from the spot.

In an interview with Joe Cole for BT Sport, Henderson was asked to name which player he would pick to take a penalty to save his life.

And, rather than Salah, the Liverpool captain actually opted for Milner.

Milner to take a penalty to save Henderson’s life

In fairness to Henderson, the numbers actually back him up when it comes to picking Milner over Salah.

Excluding shootouts, Milner has scored 30 out of 35 during his career. Salah meanwhile, has scored 28 out of 33.

However, you cannot imagine Milner having much luck if he tried to wrestle the ball out of Salah’s hands if Liverpool were awarded a spot-kick this season.

It seems however, that Henderson would be a little more relaxed if it was indeed Milner taking it.
